Eros Florals
Project Overview
UX researcher, Designer, UI Designer,
Eros Florals is a florist app featuring a diverse array of floral arrangements and flower selections. Doubling as an informative catalog, it enriches users' knowledge about various blooms. Targeting individuals aged 25-55, Eros Florals aims to streamline the process of acquiring flowers and arrangements while empowering customers with comprehensive flower insights.
Research
I used user profiles and information to create Personas and empathy maps so I could better understand the types of users I was working with. I then did research on different direct and indirect competitors and saw the different opportunities for improvement. From both of these exercises I found that users needed to be able to go through the site quickly. This could either be because they are busy or because they have an accessibility issue and they are not able to look at the screen for long periods of time. Other Florist sites lacked a structure that allowed for users to go through the options quickly.
Competative Audit
Pain Points
Time: Due to how busy people can be they don’t have a lot of time to sift through the app all the time
Accuracy: Being able to make large scale orders with a good degree of accuracy
Floral Information: Users need the ability to find out more information about different types of flowers so they can better work with them

Wireframes Sketches
Wireframes
I initially sketched out multiple iterations of the homepage design before settling on one design for it.
I really enjoyed the idea of having a hero image underneath the header but I ultimately decided that it would be best if a selection of arrangements was at the top that would be better because it would allow a user to select a product faster.
Digital Wireframes
I Moving from the paper wireframes to the digital wireframes allowed me to really see how the design would fit on a screen and the best way to configure the elements so its best for the users
The design prioritizes and highlights the main functions of the apps and a shortcut to streamline the purchasing process
Prototyping
Prototyping
Low-Fidelity Prototype
When adding all of the interactive elements to the low fidelity prototype I got to see how the app moved and worked. Through this process I tested out animations and interactions
Usability Study
Profile
When presented with finding the profile section of the app, users had trouble accessing and using the profile icon
Before
After
Study Findings
Text
The users unanimously felt that there was too much text in the different flower and flower arrangement profiles
Before
Contrast
Some of the users felt that the contrast in the design and the text size made the prototype hard to look at
After
Mockups
After the Usability study I took the ideas around contrast, size and mixed them with spacing and vibrant images. This allowed me to create a design thats appealing but also is very functional.
I still kept all of the sections and labeling that made the app easy to go through.
High-Fidelity Prototype
When I was building the high fidelity prototype, I made sure to connect each of the elements and add all of the necessary interactions.
With this prototype I payed attention to the animations sand the directions The screens go in and how that helps users navigate the app
Takeaways
What I learned….
The users overwhelmingly felt that the design decisions in the prototypes made the product easy to navigate through and use. Most users were salso able to go through the desired pathway at as fast and easy rate.
Impact
Throughout this project I was able to learn and focus on every part of the design process and how best to design a product. Namely the importance of usability studies in the refining of low and high fidelity prototypes. Also, the importance of personas and user research on the front end of the process. That research is instrumental in framing the entire focus of the project.
Next Steps
1.
The first steps is to go through another usability study so I can perfect the design even further.
2.
The shifting of the home page to allow users the ability to select more quick options as well as to allow for promotional space to discuss deals, and other import information.
3.
Exploring the possibility for more options within the app to customize your flower arrangements. This would give users a lot more choices and control.
